Bingo Banter
Games of bingo that use 90 balls and require players to make a line, two lines or a full house to win prizes often involve the called numbers being accompanied by a rhyming phrase or associated word. Originally this was so that the number called could not be accidentally mistaken for another, and also so that the caller could maintain a steady rhythm regardless of whether a single- or double-digit number was being announced.
This approach has been retained as a British bingo tradition ever since, and in some online 90 ball games it has been carried over. It is therefore a good idea to familiarise yourself with the following phrases that are associated with each number should you ever play at one of these sites. The phrases are generally announced before the number itself, as in, “Kelly’s Eye, number 1” or “Thee and Me, 23”.
