Bingo Club Membership
Before you can play bingo at a traditional club or online you will usually need to become a member of the club itself. This article outlines the requirements for both types of bingo establishment.
Land-based Bingo
Until recently it was necessary to join a bingo club at least 24 hours before you intended to play. Changes in licensing laws have now made it possible to join and play immediately, though you should still allows yourself ten minutes or so to complete the required membership application form. This will ask for your name, address, phone number and similar details, and some clubs will request that you provide proof of your identification. We suggest that you ensure you have two forms of ID, such as a full driving licence and a recent utility bill bearing your name and address. This ID is only required when applying for membership unless you look as though you are under 18, in which case you could be asked to prove your age even after becoming a member.
When your membership application has been processed you will be allowed into the club to play. You may be given a temporary membership card, as your main membership card will normally be sent through the mail. Once you have your main membership card for the bingo club you have joined, you will need to swipe it through a machine on entering the club in the future. However, a member of staff should always be on hand to offer assistance if you have any difficulty with this.
Some bingo clubs will allow you to sign in a limited number of guests for a one-off session. Others will insist that your guests become members in their own right. Check with your particular club to find out which is the case if you intend to invite guests to play bingo with you on occasion.
Online Bingo
Becoming a member of an online bingo club is just as easy as with a traditional club, but in this case you will be required to complete an online form with your name, address, e-mail address and so on. It is very important to enter the correct details here, as any typing error could create problems later on with deposits or receiving e-mails at the proper address. Your financial details (for example, your credit card) will be used as proof of ID when you come to play with real money.
Online bingo clubs do not issue membership cards, but instead operate using a username and password system. You should keep your password totally confidential, as it will be assumed that anyone who logs into the bingo club with your username and password is actually you, and they will therefore be able to amend your account details and deposit extra funds using the financial details you have filed with the club.
