Your Lucky Numbers
Many bingo players like to buy bingo tickets or strips of bingo tickets in the same quantity as their lucky number. For example, if their lucky number was 4 then they might buy 4 tickets or 4 strips. Some players are also happy to buy other quantities that have their lucky number as the final digit, such as 14 or 24. In this article we explain how you can calculate your own lucky number so that you can try doing the same thing and see if it works for you.
Lucky numbers are commonly based on the full name of an individual, and calculating your own lucky number for bingo purposes is very simple. In fact, all you have to do is follow three simple steps...
Step 1 – Number Your Letters
To begin, take a piece of paper and write down your full name. Then, underneath each letter, write down the position of that letter in the alphabet. To clarify, the letter A is first in the alphabet, so it’s position is 1. The letter B is 2, the letter C is 3 and so on, right though to the letter Z in position 26. So, if we wanted to calculate the lucky number of someone called Mary Jane, the first step would look something like this:
M A R Y J A N E
13 1 18 25 10 1 14 5
Step 2 – Calculate The Total
The next step is to take all of the numbers that you have written down and add them together to arrive at a grand total. So, if we wanted to continue with our Mary Jane example our calculation would be:
13 + 1 + 18 + 25 + 10 + 1 + 14 + 5 = 87
Step 3 – Obtain A Single Digit
If the total you obtained in Step 2 has two digits or more then you should now add the digits together until you get a single digit number. For example, the total for Mary Jane is 87, so we would proceed as follows:
8 + 7 = 15
This is still not a single digit, so we take the new digits and add those together:
1 + 5 = 6
The lucky number for Mary Jane is therefore 6.
Of course, if the total that you obtained in Step 2 was already a single digit number then this is the lucky number already, and Step 3 can be omitted.
Try calculating your lucky number and using it when you play bingo over the next few months. Who knows, you may just win a fortune!
