The Big N
The National Bingo Game Association is launching a major advertising campaign to promote its brand new "Big N" bingo game that can be played from 15 September, 2007. This campaign will be one of the first to take advantage of the relaxed Gambling Act 2005 regulations (which came into force on 1 September 2007) that allow gambling operators to advertise on television. It is expected that commercials for the Big N game will be broadcast on ITV1, Channel 4, Five and on a selected range of digital television channels. Advertisements will also appear in magazines and newspapers, as well as online.
The "Big N" game will be the first national bingo game to compete with the lottery in terms of the prize money that can be won. To start the ball rolling, the first game on 15 September will have a £1,000,000 jackpot, and a rollover feature will help to ensure that prizes remain high consistently. You may wonder how a bingo game can roll money over (after all, someone always wins a game of bingo eventually) but this is possible thanks to the fact that bingo operators no longer have to return all stakes as prizes in each individual game.
There are 500 clubs that are linked up nationally, and your chance of winning the "Big N" game are exactly the same no matter which club you play in. Players will also be able to see the jackpot growing as they purchase their tickets, as the running total will appear on digital displays. The more tickets that are sold, the more the jackpot will grow until someone somewhere scoops it by getting the right number up at the right time. It's bingo, but on a much bigger scale than ever before.
The "Big N" game comes at a time when the National Bingo Game Association is celebrating 21 years of serving bingo players across the country. Over three million people currently play bingo on a regular basis in the UK, and with even larger prizes now up for grabs, this number is expected to increase over the coming months and years. Steve Baldwin, a spokesman for the National Bingo Game Association, said: "It is great to see that after 21 years, we are still shaking things up with the largest ever jackpot game in bingo."
