Birmingham Bingo Double

Birmingham Bingo DoubleA Birmingham bingo player is celebrating her second big win in just over three years. The grandmother of six won £102,000 in May 2005, and she won more than £38,000 on Sunday 1 June, 2008, giving her a £150,000 double!

Both wins took place at the Walkers Club in the Beaufort Park area of Birmingham. The win on Sunday 1 June was the result of her achieving a full house in 43 numbers. The National Bingo Game jackpot was £71,040, but another player in Corby made a full house on the same number, so the pot was split to give each winning £35,520. A regional prize worth £3,172 and a house prize of £100 brought the Birmingham winner’s total windfall to £38,792.

The woman said, “I feel so, so lucky to have been in the right place at the right time – twice. After my first win, people used to ask why I was still playing bingo as they said I’d never win again, but when I went out on Sunday night I had a gut feeling I was going to win again, and I did.”

Two wins worth a combined total of more than £150,000 isn’t at all bad in the space of 37 months, and what makes this story of success even more astounding is the fact that the winner has only been playing at the Walkers Club since 2004. The winner is now planning to pay off her mortgage, but will need time to think about what to do with the rest of the money.

Readers who have the mistake idea that women seem to have more chance of winning at bingo than men will be encouraged by the fact that a twenty year old man from Basingstoke won more than £21,000 at the Gala Club on 31 May, 2008. George Carter, who had only played twice before in the last two years, achieved a full house in 46 calls.
